Punjab Police Accelerates Anti-Drug Campaign on Chief Minister’s Orders

Lahore, Directed by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Police has intensified its campaign against drugs under the leadership of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. The operation aims to establish a drug-free province, with recent police actions including 474 raids on drug dealers’ hideouts across Lahore and the broader province.

According to Punjab Police, the crackdown in the last 24 hours led to the registration of 249 cases against individuals linked to the drug supply chain. Police efforts resulted in the arrest of 248 suspects and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics, including 140 kg of charas, 2 kg of heroin, 1 kg of opium, 307 grams of ice, and 2670 liters of liquor.

The spokesman further detailed that over the past month, 7165 raids have been executed, targeting drug dealers throughout Punjab. These operations have led to 3669 cases against major drug dealers, with 4053 arrests. Confiscations during this period included 2947 kg of charas, 15 kg of ice, 58 kg of heroin, 152 kg of opium, and 40875 liters of liquor. IG Punjab has also ordered an increase in anti-narcotics operations in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), emphasizing the eradication of drug supply networks around educational institutions and hostels.
