LAHORE, Following the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police have intensified their efforts against fugitives and proclaimed offenders residing abroad. In a recent success, fugitive Abdul Ghaffar, wanted by Bahawalnagar police, was arrested in Saudi Arabia and has been brought back to Pakistan.
According to Punjab Police, Abdul Ghaffar had fled to Saudi Arabia following a crime incident. The Punjab Police, through Interpol, issued a red notice and continued their pursuit, leading to his arrest in Saudi Arabia. Upon his return, Bahawalnagar police apprehended Ghaffar at the airport.
The spokesman for Punjab Police stated that the total number of criminals arrested from foreign countries this year has reached 144, with arrests made in America, Britain, Europe, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Gulf countries.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar congratulated the police team for successfully tracing and arresting the fugitive. He emphasized the need for a swift legal process to ensure the culprit is duly punished and called for intensified efforts to arrest dangerous proclaimed offenders, ensuring regular information sharing with FIA, Interpol, and other institutions.
