Punjab PDWP Greenlights Major Development Projects Totaling Rs 4.7 Billion

Lahore, The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of Punjab has approved three significant development schemes aimed at enhancing green initiatives, emergency services, and urban development with a combined investment of Rs 4,697.219 million. The decision was made during the 50th meeting of the PDWP for the fiscal year 2023-24.

According to Planning and Development Board – Punjab, the meeting was chaired by Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, Chairman of the P and D Board. The approved projects include the ‘CM Plants for Pakistan Green Punjab Initiative’ for the Rawalpindi Division, which will receive funding of Rs 1,000 million to promote environmental sustainability through increased greenery. Additionally, the PDWP has allocated Rs 700 million for the provision of ambulance services on Punjab’s motorways, aiming to enhance emergency response capabilities across the region.

The largest of the approved schemes is the construction of an underpass along Bedian Road at the roundabout near Lahore Ring Road, which is set to cost Rs 2,997.219 million. This project is intended to alleviate traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in a critical area of Lahore.

The meeting was attended by Secretary P and D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Mr. Nasir Iqbal Malik, other members of the P and D Board, heads of relevant departments, and senior representatives from various provincial departments, all working collaboratively to oversee the implementation of these projects.
