Punjab PDWP Approves Rs 2001 Million for Healthcare and Tourism Development

Lahore: The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved funding for two major development schemes, totaling Rs 2001 million, aimed at revamping healthcare facilities and enhancing tourism infrastructure. The approval occurred during the 17th PDWP meeting for fiscal year 2024-25, chaired by Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, Chairman of the P and D Board.

According to Planning and Development Board – Punjab announcement issued on 13 August 2024, the meeting resulted in the sanctioning of Rs 2000 million for the refurbishment of old blocks at the Punjab Institute of Mental Health Lahore. This substantial investment underscores the province’s commitment to improving mental health services. Additionally, a smaller yet significant allocation of Rs 1 million was approved for conducting a feasibility study for the establishment of an Eco-Friendly Park, alongside identifying potential paragliding sites and setting regulations for private operators in the tourism sector.

The meeting was attended by Secretary P and D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, along with other board members and senior officials from relevant provincial departments, signaling a strong collaborative approach towards enhancing the province’s healthcare and tourism offerings.
