Punjab P and D Board Focuses on Climate-Resilient Agriculture and Resource Management

Lahore: A critical policy dialogue on developing climate-resilient agricultural and natural resource projects was conducted by the Punjab Planning and Development Board. The discussion, chaired by Secretary P and D Board Dr. Asif Tufail, reviewed ongoing project plans and the progress of technical assistance aimed at enhancing regional sustainability in the face of climate challenges.

According to Planning and Development Board – Punjab announcement issued on 13 August 2024, the session featured contributions from Asian Development Bank (ADB) experts who emphasized the need for stronger institutional frameworks, efficient groundwater management, command area development, and comprehensive water resource management. The ADB representatives provided valuable recommendations to improve capabilities within the pertinent departments.

Dr. Tufail highlighted the importance of ADB’s technical support and urged relevant department heads to engage with these experts for strategic advice on advancing their projects. The dialogue saw participation from senior members of the P and DB, representatives from the Irrigation and Local Government departments, and other stakeholders, reflecting a collaborative effort to tackle environmental and resource management issues effectively.
