Lahore: Punjab Provincial Minister for Sports, Labour and Human Resource, Faisal Ayub Khokhar, announced significant upgrades to the social security hospitals, aligning with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s vision for modernizing healthcare facilities. During his visit to the Social Security Hospital in Islamabad, the minister detailed upcoming improvements and interacted with patients to assess current services.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 11 September 2024, Minister Khokhar was briefed by Dr. Nouman Zahid, Medical Superintendent of the Social Security Hospital, about the existing facilities. The hospital, operational since 1998, encompasses 82 kanals and houses 150 beds. The minister toured various departments including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency, Surgical Skills Lab, and Orthopedic Ward, taking note of the healthcare services provided and listening to the patients’ and their relatives’ feedback.
During his visit, Minister Khokhar emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure of social security hospitals to provide state-of-the-art healthcare services. He highlighted that the renovation of these hospitals and the provision of new medical equipment and staff are imminent. Moreover, the minister announced the establishment of a complaint cell to address grievances directly at the head office, ensuring confidentiality and improving service conditions.
The presence of Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Member of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, underscored the importance of the initiative. Minister Khokhar reaffirmed that the government is leveraging all resources for the welfare of workers, and negligence in treatment will not be tolerated under the new measures.
