Lahore: The 10th Law and Order meeting was held at the Home Department, chaired by Provincial Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Peace and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique. The meeting focused on reviewing the security situation across the province and discussed measures to maintain peace and order.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Provincial Minister Chaudhry Shafay Hussain participated in the meeting via video link. Detailed briefings were provided by concerned officers on the current law and order situation. The meeting resulted in the approval of forming Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) for 14 cases under Section 19 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. Additionally, the appointment of six price control magistrates across various districts was sanctioned. The deployment of Rangers at inter-provincial check posts was also approved to enhance security.
Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized the state’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in Punjab. He stated that no tolerance would be shown towards violence and highlighted the importance of punishing terrorists to achieve societal peace. Rafique directed the concerned departments to ensure the regular follow-up of cases in the courts. He also acknowledged the efforts of all institutions during Muharram and reiterated that providing security to the public is the state’s primary responsibility. The performance of the newly appointed price control magistrates will be evaluated in the next meeting.
Special Secretary Interior Fazal ur Rehman, Additional Secretary Internal Security Usman Khalid, DIG Operations Punjab, DIG Special Branch, Rangers, and officers from related institutions and departments were present at the meeting.
