Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the successful distribution of electronic and petrol bikes to students across Punjab as part of the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative. This move is aimed at enhancing the educational experience by providing easier and more efficient transportation for students.
According to Punjab Portal, CM Sharif emphasized the benefits of the initiative, noting that easier travel will positively impact the academic performance of students. The project includes provisions such as e-bike battery insurance, warranties, and solarized charging stations at colleges and universities to support the sustainability of e-transport. Furthermore, the initiative has been made more accessible by removing the condition of parental guarantees for students without parents.
CM Sharif also directed relevant authorities to set reasonable monthly installments for the e-bikes to ease the financial burden on parents. The initiative also includes safety measures, providing helmets and kite protection rods along with the bikes. She highlighted the dual benefits of the initiative, reducing environmental pollution and smog while facilitating student transportation.
