Punjab Intensifies Drug-Free Campaign with Hundreds of Raids and Arrests


Lahore, Under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab’s Drug Free campaign has escalated, leading to significant police actions against drug trafficking across the province. In a single day, Punjab Police, led by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, conducted 287 raids on suspected drug dealers’ hideouts, resulting in 116 criminal cases and the arrest of 119 individuals.



According to Punjab Police, the ongoing campaign has been marked by extensive operations that have seen 25,935 raids since February 26, capturing 12,603 suspects involved in drug-related activities. Law enforcement officials have seized thousands of kilograms of narcotics, including charas, heroin, opium, and ice, along with over 154,000 liters of alcohol. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the need to accelerate efforts to dismantle the drug supply chain, especially near educational institutions and hostels, and called for increased community engagement in the campaign.
