Lahore: The Inspector General of Police for Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, recently toured the frontline positions in Kacha Machka near Ghotki, where he evaluated the ongoing law enforcement efforts against criminal activities in the area. Dr. Anwar met with police personnel, visited the site of a recent critical incident, and emphasized the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and security under challenging conditions.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 25 August 2024, Dr. Anwar received a comprehensive briefing from Rizwan Umar Gondal, the District Police Officer of Rahim Yar Khan, on the current situation in the Kacha region. The briefing focused on the recent progress and ongoing challenges in the area. Dr. Anwar also visited the Machka police station where he met with Constable Ahmad Nawaz, who was recently involved in a significant police operation.
During his visit, Dr. Anwar expressed his support for the officers stationed at the frontline, recognizing their efforts in upholding law and order in one of the most challenging environments in Punjab. He highlighted the historical sacrifices made by Punjab Police officers and reaffirmed that their efforts would not be in vain, underscoring the department’s resolve to eradicate criminal elements from Kacha permanently.
The IGP underscored the significant reduction in serious crimes in the area, attributing this success to the effective policing strategies that have been implemented. He assured that the rule of law and state authority would continue to be enforced robustly in Kacha. The visit also highlighted the support from the Chief Minister of Punjab, who has provided necessary resources to bolster the police’s efforts.
Dr. Anwar’s entourage included several high-ranking officials such as Mohammad Kamran Khan, Additional IG of South Punjab; Ahsan Younas, Managing Director of Punjab Safe Cities Authority; Rai Babar Saeed, Regional Police Officer of Bahawalpur; and DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal, reflecting a unified commitment to the mission of eliminating criminal activities from the region.
