Lahore: The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has released its performance report for November 2024, detailing a range of operations and interventions aimed at ensuring safety and compliance on the province’s highways. The report highlights PHP’s efforts in arresting offenders, inspecting vehicles, and providing assistance to travelers, in accordance with directives from Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar.
According to Punjab Police, PHP teams utilized the e-Police Post App to check 2.9 million individuals on the roads, resulting in the arrest of 610 proclaimed offenders and court absconders. The PHP also conducted inspections of 1.3 million vehicles, leading to the recovery of 272 stolen vehicles and motorcycles. Additionally, legal actions were taken against 25,588 overloaded vehicles for violating axle load standards, and 1,035 vehicles using illegal gas cylinders were penalized. The PHP issued 7,630 driving licenses and reunited 31 missing children with their families.
In efforts to enhance traffic flow, the PHP removed 291 temporary and permanent encroachments, assisted 10,278 travelers, and provided police services to 13,781 citizens at designated centers. The report also notes the registration of 62 cases related to illegal weapons and the seizure of various drugs, including 1,711 liters of alcohol, 13,050 grams of charas, and 1,027 grams of opium. Dr. Usman Anwar commended the PHP for its performance and urged them to continue their dedicated service to ensure traffic safety and citizen protection.
