Lahore: Under the guidance of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has escalated its operations to enforce law, protect citizens, and ensure road safety across the province.
According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar has initiated a new phase of departmental promotions within PHP, promising advancement for hundreds of personnel based on merit and seniority. He has also mandated increased field patrolling and prioritized addressing legal violations, preventing crime, and assisting citizens. These directives were part of his speech during a review of PHP’s weekly performance.
The performance report released by the Punjab Highway Patrol Headquarters details a vigorous week of law enforcement activities across various districts including Lahore. PHP teams used the e-police post app to screen 712,977 individuals, resulting in the arrest of 126 wanted criminals and court absconders. Additionally, 360,392 vehicles were inspected, with 49 stolen vehicles and motorcycles recovered.
PHP’s road safety campaign led to 51,372 e-challans issued for traffic violations, while 9,363 overloaded vehicles were fined under the axle load management initiative, collecting a total of 21.5 million rupees in fines. Other enforcement actions included legal proceedings against 229 vehicles for illegal use of gas cylinders, issuing 3,562 driving licenses, reuniting 17 missing children with their families, removing 51 encroachments to improve traffic flow, and assisting 2,070 passengers.
Police service centers provided various services to 1,248 citizens, and 20 cases were registered for illegal weapon possession with 289 liters of alcohol seized from drug dealers. Dr. Usman Anwar commended the PHP for its exemplary performance and encouraged continued dedication to ensuring effective service and safety for all road users.
