Punjab Highway Patrol Marks 19 Years with Significant Achievements and Awards Ceremony

Lahore, The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) celebrated its 19th Raising Day at Alhamra Hall, highlighting a year of notable achievements in crime control, public service delivery, and technological advancements. The event, attended by senior officials including Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, showcased PHP’s progress and honoured its outstanding personnel.

According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar lauded PHP’s remarkable improvement in various domains, including a 40% increase in crime control and public service delivery. He praised the efforts of PHP under DIG Athar Waheed’s leadership, especially in IT reforms and departmental enhancements. Dr. Anwar also emphasized the significance of PHP’s role in surpassing the performance of the Motorway Police through hard work and technology-based interventions.

The event highlighted PHP’s extensive public service contributions, including the checking of 17.7 million people through e-police posts, the arrest of 8,790 offenders, recovery of 4,636 stolen vehicles, and issuance of over 2 million challan tickets. DIG PHP Athar Waheed noted a 48% reduction in crimes and a 45% decrease in traffic accidents compared to the previous year, underscoring PHP’s effectiveness in enhancing road safety and law enforcement.

The ceremony also acknowledged individual contributions with various awards. Bravery Awards, Crime Prevention Awards, Road Safety Awards, Human Service Awards, and Best Lady Officer Awards were among the honours presented. Additionally, special recognition was given to those who excelled in sports, education, tourism, and poetry.

The Raising Day event not only marked the anniversary of PHP’s establishment but also served as a testament to its continuous evolution and commitment to public service. This celebration reaffirms the dedication of the Punjab Police in maintaining safety and order on the province’s highways.
