Punjab Highway Patrol Enhances Safety and Service on Highways Following IG Punjab’s Directives

Lahore: Under the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) is actively enhancing its efforts to provide better service and ensure the safety of citizens on highways across the province. The PHP has been vigilant in enforcing laws, combating crime, and assisting motorists in various capacities, as detailed in their latest weekly performance report.

According to Punjab Police, the PHP has utilized the E-Police Post App to conduct extensive checks on individuals and vehicles. In the past week alone, 527,243 individuals were checked, leading to the arrest of 97 wanted criminals and absconders. Similarly, vehicle inspections were robust, with 258,305 vehicles examined and 46 stolen vehicles and motorcycles recovered. As part of a road safety initiative, the PHP issued 48,900 E-challans for traffic violations and took significant action against 243 vehicles for the illegal use of gas cylinders.

In efforts to manage and regulate traffic load, PHP fined and legally processed 6,544 overloaded vehicles, resulting in the collection of 21 million rupees in fines. The campaign for road safety also included the issuance of 3,722 driving licenses and the removal of 44 temporary and permanent encroachments, which improved overall traffic flow.

Additionally, the PHP has played a crucial role in community assistance. They reunited 16 missing children with their families and provided help and guidance to 2,276 passengers facing various issues. PHP service centers extended their services to 3,873 citizens, and the force registered 30 cases concerning the illegal possession of weapons. In a crackdown on drug trafficking, officers seized 279 liters of liquor and 23 kilograms of charas.

Dr. Usman Anwar praised the PHP for their exemplary performance and urged them to continue their dedicated services. He stressed the importance of maintaining smooth traffic, protecting citizens, and enhancing field patrolling to offer the best possible assistance to travelers on the highways.
