Punjab Highway Patrol Enhances Road Safety and Law Enforcement Across Highways


Lahore: The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has been vigorously enforcing road safety and law compliance on provincial highways, following directives from Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. A comprehensive weekly performance report highlights significant achievements in crime suppression, traffic law enforcement, and public safety initiatives.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 12 August 2024, the PHP’s recent operations involved extensive checks on 1,063,161 individuals using the e-police post app, leading to the arrest of 204 proclaimed offenders and judicial absconders. Vehicle inspections also resulted in the recovery of 106 stolen vehicles and motorcycles from a total of 521,534 checked.



The report further detailed the issuance of 78,535 e-challans under a road safety campaign and action against 14,474 overloaded vehicles, collecting fines totaling 33.2 million rupees. Additionally, the PHP took legal measures against 353 vehicles for illegal gas cylinder usage, contributing to enhanced road safety.



Beyond enforcement, the PHP’s community service efforts included reuniting 17 missing children with their families, removing 51 traffic obstructions, assisting 3,284 passengers, and providing varied services to 2,069 citizens at police service centers. The force also registered 22 cases against illegal weapon possession and confiscated 508 liters of alcohol.



IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the PHP for their diligence and effectiveness, emphasizing the importance of maintaining traffic flow and prioritizing citizen service and protection with unwavering dedication and sincerity.
