Punjab Highway Patrol Boosts Road Safety and Law Enforcement Under IG Punjab’s Directives


Lahore, In an effort to enhance road safety and enforce the law across Punjab’s highways, the Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) has been actively monitoring and controlling traffic flow, ensuring compliance with laws, and safeguarding citizens’ lives and property. This initiative, under the guidance of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, has seen significant law enforcement activities over the past week.



According to Punjab Police, the PHP’s weekly performance report details substantial enforcement actions including the inspection of over 673,000 individuals using the e-Police Post App. During these checks, 163 proclaimed offenders and judicial fugitives were apprehended, and 24 cases were registered for possession of illegal weapons. Additionally, PHP teams recovered 613 liters of alcohol and 1,315 grams of charas. Vehicle checks were also extensive, with 346,163 vehicles inspected, leading to the recovery of 47 stolen vehicles and motorcycles. The report highlighted the issuance of 62,858 e-challans for traffic rule violations and fines totaling 2.5 crore rupees collected from 29,996 overloaded vehicles under the axle load management regulations.



The Punjab Police spokesperson noted that PHP also took legal action against 332 vehicles for the illegal use of gas cylinders and facilitated the issuance of 3,170 driving licenses. In a community service effort, PHP personnel reunited 17 missing children with their families, removed 83 traffic obstructions, and provided assistance to 1,903 motorists and 1,334 citizens at PHP service centers. In his commendation of the PHP’s efforts, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized the importance of maintaining high service standards and continuing protective measures for the safety and security of all road users in Punjab.
