Punjab Health Minister Calls for Intensified Dengue Surveillance

Lahore, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has issued directives for intensified dengue surveillance across Punjab, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts following recent rainfall. The instructions were given during the third meeting of the Dengue, Infectious Diseases, and Disaster Management Committee, which he chaired.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting focused on a detailed review of the dengue situation, with Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan briefing on the status of infectious diseases and epidemic management. Minister Rafique urged all commissioners and deputy commissioners to personally oversee anti-dengue operations and called for public awareness campaigns, including messages during Friday sermons.

He highlighted the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in controlling the disease and announced plans to enhance surveillance in key cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Multan. The meeting also covered the need for ensuring anti-dengue measures in schools and timely upgrades in major hospitals to prevent outbreaks.
