Lahore, In a critical meeting presided over by Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, the Secretary Food briefed on the troubling increase in sugar prices and the impact of two stay orders by the Lahore High Court. The Punjab government is set to appeal for the reversal of these orders in an effort to stabilize the sugar market and alleviate the burden on consumers.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab Press Releases, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, reported that Naqvi has instructed the Advocate General of Punjab to file an immediate appeal against the stay orders. The government believes that the legal restraints have provided leeway for sugar hoarders, contributing to the significant price surge, which has been a source of public distress. The chief minister has directed a prompt legal response to counteract these effects and bring relief to the people.
