Punjab Government Reviews Progress on Himat Card Scheme for the Disabled

Lahore: A critical meeting chaired by Punjab’s Minister for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Mr. Sohail Shaukat Butt, was convened to assess the implementation of the Himat Card Scheme, aimed at providing support to persons with disabilities.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the session, adhering to directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, focused on accelerating the registration and verification processes associated with the Himat Card. The meeting saw the participation of various directors and shelter home managers from the Multan Division, where improvements to the operational procedures of the Social Welfare Department were discussed. Minister Butt called for the involvement of PML-N ticket holders in the campaign to ensure broader outreach and support.

During the meeting, Minister Butt reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to disbursing quarterly assistance of PKR 7,500 to eligible individuals, highlighting it as a significant measure of relief. He emphasized the administration’s dedication to fostering the development and welfare of the needy under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The transparency of the Himat Card’s registration and verification process was also stressed, underlining the government’s objective to ensure that assistance reaches its rightful recipients effectively and equitably.
