Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a critical Law and Order meeting at the Elite Police Force Headquarters, focusing on strengthening police efforts to eradicate crime across the province. Key discussions included the enhancement of policing strategies, prosecution, and the adoption of advanced digital monitoring technologies.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the Chief Minister directed authorities to intensify efforts against gang-rape, child abuse, and violence against domestic workers. A significant decision made during the meeting was the in-principle approval to allocate funds for equipping the police with Quadcopter drones and other modern technologies to improve law enforcement capabilities.
The meeting also reviewed a proposal to increase the punishment for rape from 10 to 15 years. IG Punjab briefed the Chief Minister on the current law and order situation and submitted a comprehensive report on the performance of all police officers in the province. Additionally, updates on completed cybercrime investigation training and ongoing technology access training for police personnel were discussed.
