Lahore, In a significant infrastructure development move, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has sanctioned the construction and rehabilitation of ten critically deteriorated bridges across the province. This initiative, part of the “Restoring the Struggle and Prosperous Punjab” program, aims to enhance the region’s connectivity and safety.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Provincial Minister for Construction and Communications Malik Soheb Ahmed Bharath announced that the project would commence shortly, targeting ten of the most dilapidated bridges in Punjab. The undertaking will see eight bridges reconstructed with an investment of Rs 20 crore 30 lakh, while comprehensive plans are in place for the remaining two in Lahore and Jhelum, involving the Department of Engineering for execution.

Specifically, the bridge on the drain channel near Sialkot International Airport Link Road is slated for reconstruction within 60 days at a cost of Rs 30 million. Additionally, the bridge on Pind Dadan Khan and Lila Road in Jhelum will be constructed over 90 days with a budget of Rs 30 million. The project encompasses various districts including Jhang, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, and Khushab, addressing critical infrastructure needs through timely and cost-effective measures.

Minister Malik Soheb Ahmad Bharath also highlighted that alternative traffic routes would be established during the bridge construction and repair period to minimize inconvenience to the public. This infrastructure enhancement initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to improving public services and safety, marking a crucial step towards the development and prosperity of the province.
