Punjab Government Implements Economic Relief Measures, Plans Power Sector Reforms


Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal announced that the Punjab government has launched a relief initiative that includes a forty-six billion rupee subsidy for electricity bills to alleviate the financial burden on the residents of the province. The Minister also highlighted ongoing reforms in the local government law and future plans to reduce power tariffs over the next two years.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ahsan Iqbal, in a discussion with journalists, stated that these measures are part of broader efforts advised by Nawaz Sharif to align with the party’s manifesto. The reforms in the local bodies law aim to enhance governance and efficiency at the municipal level.



Iqbal further noted that the PML N Government is actively addressing the inefficiencies in the power sector, with strategic plans set to lower electricity costs within two years. He responded to inquiries about national progress by emphasizing the necessity of peace and consistent policies for the advancement of Pakistan.



Moreover, the Planning Minister reported a reduction in unemployment rates and inflation, attributing these positive changes to the government’s policy interventions. He also expressed contentment with the performance of the stock market, indicating a favorable economic environment.



These announcements come as the government continues to focus on economic stability and sectoral reforms to ensure sustainable development and relief for its citizens.
