LAHORE: In a concerted effort to improve urban facilities and drainage systems across Punjab, the government has dispatched a seventh fleet of 46 modern machines to various districts, under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Punjab, Bilal Yasin, officially handed over the new machinery to Director General WASA, Tayyab Fareed. The equipment is set to be distributed across several districts, including Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, and Nankana Sahib. Previously, machinery had been dispatched to 15 other districts such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Okara, Jhang, and Jhelum.
The initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of drainage systems, improve urban services, and bolster rainwater management arrangements. Minister Yasin emphasized that these efforts, led by Chief Minister Sharif, reflect the Housing Department’s commitment to advancing urban facilities and completing development projects. This strategic deployment is expected to increase WASA’s operational capacity at the local level, thereby providing better services and relief to citizens.
Additionally, the provincial minister addressed the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing it as unfortunate and necessitating serious attention due to rising terrorist activities. He stressed the importance of effective measures to ensure national security and peace. Underlining the sacrifices made during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government’s tenure, Yasin called for respect for martyrs and unity in prioritizing national stability over political interests.
Highlighting the Punjab government’s focus, Yasin reiterated the administration’s commitment to development, public welfare, and the timely completion of projects, steering clear of political disorder. The provision of modern machinery forms part of this broader vision for improved urban services across the province.
