Lahore: In an effort to ensure the affordability and quality of flour across the province, the Punjab Food Department has intensified its monitoring activities. The department is scrutinizing the quality and prices of flour under the supervision of Secretary Food Punjab, Ehsan Bhutta. This action follows the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister to stabilize flour prices and quality province-wide.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Ehsan Bhutta reported that the prices of 667 flour brands, available in 10 and 20-kilogram packages, were examined across various divisions in Punjab. The monitoring covered a broad range of areas, with Lahore Division checking 110 brands, Rawalpindi 139, Gujrat and Gujranwala 100, Faisalabad 79, and Sargodha 32 brands. Similarly, in Multan Division, the prices of 70 flour brands were checked, along with 34 in Sahiwal, 36 in DG Khan, and 67 in Bahawalpur.
Further elaborating on the measures, Bhutta mentioned that following the directives from the Punjab Chief Minister, flour is being sold at fixed prices across all districts. He assured that there have been no reports of overpriced flour sales. However, in instances where flour is found to be sold at higher prices, the respective District Food Controller will be held accountable.
This increased scrutiny by the Punjab Food Department aims to ensure that citizens across the province have access to flour at reasonable prices, safeguarding them against undue price inflation in essential commodities.
