Lahore: In a broad effort to regulate and enforce wheat flour prices across Punjab, the Punjab Food Department conducted inspections at numerous flour mills and retail locations, aiming to curb profiteering and ensure compliance with mandated pricing.
According to Punjab Food Department announcement issued on 22 August 2024, field officers inspected 1027 locations and 34 flour mills throughout the province, leading to the issuance of notices to 12 mills for non-compliance. The inspections covered a wide area, including 115 retail shops and 7 mills in Lahore Division, 147 locations and 10 mills in Rawalpindi Division, and significant checks in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, and D.G. Khan Divisions.
Secretary Food Punjab Moazzam Iqbal Sipra emphasized the ongoing efforts to control flour pricing and quality, noting that flour prices are now being printed on the bags to enhance transparency and facilitate monitoring by authorities.
