Punjab Food Authority Initiates Inspections of Langar Khana and Cooking Centers Ahead of Eid Milad-un-Nabi

Lahore: Special measures are being taken to ensure food safety during the festivities of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) in Punjab, as the provincial Food Minister Bilal Yasin met with the Director-General of the Food Authority to oversee the inspection of langar khana, cooking centers, and related food distribution activities.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, a comprehensive plan has been outlined for the protection of public health during the month of Rabi-ul-Awal. This plan includes the formation of a special task force under the directive of the Chief Minister of Punjab to conduct uninterrupted checks across the province. The Food Authority will focus on enhancing traceability, banning prohibited items, and tightening monitoring of packaged foods in cooking centers.

Additionally, all food distributed during the processions and gatherings on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal will undergo thorough inspections. Pre-distribution checks will be performed on Niaz, particularly on the milk used, employing modern lacto scan machines. The government has emphasized that no compromise will be tolerated regarding the quality of food, and strict action will be enforced against those found producing or selling substandard food items.
