Punjab Explores Enhanced Trade and Investment Ties with Kazakhstan


Lahore, In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral relations, the Honorary Consul General of Kazakhstan, Rao Khalid M. Khan, met with Punjab’s Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, at the Punjab Investment Board’s committee room. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including technical education, agriculture, tourism, and information technology.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the discussions aimed at fostering mutual cooperation and exploring new avenues to amplify trade between Kazakhstan and Punjab. Both parties expressed a keen interest in maximizing the potential for economic exchanges and increasing investor engagement, particularly in Punjab’s special economic zones.



Minister Hussain emphasized the Punjab government’s commitment to expanding the solar energy sector and invited Kazakhstani investment companies to partake in these burgeoning opportunities. He highlighted ongoing projects such as the construction of an IT city in Lahore and a new Information Technology University on a 10-acre site in Gujarat.



Further enhancing the diplomatic ties, Rao Khalid M. Khan underscored the importance of implementing the 40 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) already signed between Kazakhstan and Pakistan. He proposed the creation of a special forum to boost trade cooperation in diverse fields.



The meeting also acknowledged the contributions of former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who serves as the Honorary Consul General of Korea and has received Korea’s highest diplomatic award, in promoting Pakistan’s development on the international stage.



Officials from the Punjab Investment Board, including CEO Jalal Hassan, attended the meeting, marking it as a pivotal moment for future collaboration between Punjab and Kazakhstan.
