Punjab Excise Department Celebrates Record Tax Recovery Through Positive Work Culture


Lahore: The Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab has achieved a record 110% tax recovery this year, a success attributed to a significant positive shift in staff attitude and new procedural transparency. This achievement was celebrated at a prize distribution ceremony attended by the Provincial Minister of Communications and Works, Malik Suhaib Ahmad Bharath, along with other senior officials and notable taxpayers.



According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Bharath lauded the efforts of the Excise Department team, including Secretary Masood Mukhtar and DG Excise Faisal Farid, at the event where special awards were presented to the highest taxpayers and top-performing employees of the last financial year. The minister emphasized the change in the department’s approach towards public service as a key factor in surpassing tax recovery targets.



The ceremony highlighted several initiatives aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency within the department. Notably, Minister Bharath mentioned the historic e-tendering of 500 roads under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directive, aimed at eliminating corruption and fostering a transparent environment.



Secretary Excise Masood Mukhtar noted the absence of taxpayer complaints and highlighted the increasing voluntary tax compliance among citizens, reflecting a growing trust in public institutions. DG Excise Faisal Farid expressed gratitude towards honest taxpayers and dedicated employees, reinforcing the department’s commitment to recognizing and encouraging integrity and hard work.



The event also saw the distribution of shields and certificates of appreciation to representatives from various esteemed institutions such as Nishat Hotel, Defense Raya, Pakland Rawalpindi, PC Hotel, Lahore University, and the Hashu Group, acknowledging their contribution to the province’s tax base.
