Punjab Election Commissioner Calls for Firm Action Against Election Code Violations


Islamabad, Ijaz Anwar Chohan, the Provincial Election Commissioner of Punjab, has instructed District Monitoring Officers to enforce strict measures against those violating the Election Commission of Pakistan’s code of conduct.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Election Commission Punjab’s spokesperson reported that as part of these enforcement actions, the District Monitoring Officer in Bhakar has directed the cancellation of a tender and issued a letter to the Chief Officer of the District Council Bhakar. The Officer also issued notices to several candidates, including Ahmed Chatta of PP 136 and candidates from Nankana Sahib, Shazra Mansab, Rana Arshad, and Agha Ali. Additionally, a fine of fifty thousand rupees was imposed on Daniyal Aziz, a candidate for NA-75.



Notices were also sent to candidates for PP-265 and NA-143, indicating a broader scope of enforcement activities across various constituencies in Punjab.



This move by the Provincial Election Commissioner signifies a firm commitment to uphold the integrity of the electoral process in Punjab by ensuring adherence to the established code of conduct.
