Lahore: In a significant enforcement operation, Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin announced the suspension of 304 flour mill licenses across the province for failing to comply with established laws, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring fair flour pricing.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Minister Yasin provided details from a video statement about extensive inspections conducted this month at 29,425 locations across various divisions in Punjab. These included Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, and DG Khan, with a specific focus on 1340 flour mills. The crackdown resulted in 268 show-cause notices and the suspension of 304 licenses due to legal violations.
The Punjab Food Department has intensified its efforts through 177 Price Control Magistrates actively engaged in field operations, ensuring flour mills and dealers adhere to notified price limits. The Minister warned of severe consequences for those found selling flour at inflated prices, signaling a robust approach to regulate the market and protect consumers.
