Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, recently met with the Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan, H.E Mr. Manuel Frederico Pinheiro Da Silva, to discuss enhancing cooperation in education, health, IT, agriculture, and tourism sectors. The meeting aimed at deepening diplomatic ties and exploring new avenues for mutual benefits.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 07 October 2024, the Chief Minister expressed her intentions to learn from Portugal’s experience to boost sectors vital for Punjab’s development. Plans were set to form bilateral teams to strengthen relations and increase trade volume. In her directive, Chief Minister Sharif emphasized redesigning the incentive package for foreign investors, specifically noting that Portuguese investors would be welcomed in the Punjab tourism sector.
The meeting also saw the participation of significant figures such as the Honorary Consul of Portugal, H.E Iftikhar Feroz, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Additional Secretary Sara Hayat, and other relevant officials. The Chief Minister underscored the creation of a favorable investment environment in Punjab and sought an effective plan for sustainable development in the bilateral relations.
