LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday reiterated Pakistan’s support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) during Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, honoring those who have died in pursuit of self-determination.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the chief minister praised the resilience and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, acknowledging the 22 individuals who were killed on July 13, 1931, as enduring symbols of the quest for freedom. She called upon the international community to fulfill its role in granting the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination in line with United Nations resolutions.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri martyrs, describing them as pivotal in the history of the freedom movement. She commended the ongoing determination of the people of IIOJK, asserting that their continued efforts keep the desire for freedom alive.

The chief minister expressed optimism that the sacrifices of IIOJK residents would eventually lead to liberation, stating that the realization of freedom for the occupied territory’s people is anticipated in the near future.
