Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Orders Health Reforms and Legal Action Over Murree Hospital Losses

Lahore, In a decisive move, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special meeting focused on sweeping health reforms, expressing outrage over the 4-billion rupee loss incurred by the Murree Hospital project during the previous administration. The meeting outlined a series of actions to address past mismanagement and enhance healthcare delivery across the province.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the session reviewed proposals for establishing a medical college through public-private partnerships in various districts including Attock, Leh Mianwali, Wahari Bhakkar, and Jhelum. It also covered the urgent completion of upgrades to 2500 Basic Health Units (BHUs) and 300 Rural Health Centers (RHCs). Chief Minister Sharif underscored the importance of safeguarding public funds and improving access to state-of-the-art health facilities. Immediate steps to establish a new hospital in Murree were also directed, alongside the provision of advanced medical equipment like angiography machines in multiple districts.
