Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has overseen the graduation of the first batch of students from the women’s vocational training program at Garment City, located in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park. The initiative, part of her vision to empower women economically, included the distribution of certificates, scholarships, and job letters to the graduates.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the ceremony highlighted the government’s commitment to skilling women to ensure they are financially independent and not seen as weak within the society. Maryam Nawaz personally distributed the awards and shared moments with the students, observing their skills in garment manufacturing. She emphasized the importance of these skills in building confidence and reducing dependence.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated several new projects aimed at further supporting the vocational training of women, including the renovation of a hostel and a vocational institute at Garment City and the laying of the foundation stone for additional stitching units. These efforts underscore the broader goal of making Punjab a leader in female empowerment across various sectors such as education, health, and employment.
