Punjab Chief Minister Approves New Convenience Markets Initiative

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the establishment of new convenience markets across the province, aiming to provide affordable essentials to the public. The initiative focuses on benefiting the weaker and middle-class segments by offering edible items at reduced prices.

The Chief Minister has directed the swift completion of 13 new convenience markets by August. These markets will be set up in locations including Nowshera Virkan, Burewala, Kabirwala, Sangla, and Jalalpur, with additional markets planned for Bahawalpur, Attock, and Murree.

In a significant move toward sustainability, Sharif also approved transitioning these markets to solar energy, which is anticipated to cut electricity costs by 70%.

The initiative underscores the provincial government’s commitment to serving the needs of its residents through accessible and cost-effective resources, as per the release from Pakistan Television.
