Punjab Chief Minister Approves 520 Million PKR for Enhanced Border Security

Lahore: In a significant move to boost security across the province, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has sanctioned a substantial fund of 520 million PKR aimed at strengthening the border and river check posts in various districts. This initiative is set to fortify the defenses against terrorism, smuggling, and other criminal activities.

According to Punjab Police, the funding will help enhance the infrastructure at key posts along the provincial borders. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, detailed that the investment would cover the installation of advanced surveillance systems such as night vision cameras and the provision of bulletproof jackets, helmets, and modern weaponry to the personnel manning these posts. Dr. Anwar expressed confidence in the boosted morale and readiness of the officers due to the improved resources and facilities.

The reinforcement of the border posts was discussed extensively during a video link meeting chaired by IG Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. In the meeting, directives were issued to police personnel to intensify their vigilance and duty performance. High-ranking officials including DIG Operations Waqas Nazir, DIG Special Protection Unit Muntazir Mehdi, and SSP Usman Bajwa attended the meeting. DPO Attock Dr. Sardar Ghias Gul Khan and DPO Mianwali Akhtar Farooq participated via video link and provided updates on the professional matters and challenges faced at the Chashma Check Post in Mianwali and Makhad Check Post in Attock.

This strategic funding and the subsequent upgrades are expected to significantly bolster the capabilities of the Punjab police in maintaining law and order and securing the borders against various threats.
