Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif led the 20th provincial cabinet meeting to address key agenda items, including the condemnation of violent attacks on security forces by PTI workers during a protest on November 24. The cabinet approved compensation packages for the security personnel affected, including Rs 29 million for a martyred constable and Rs 1 million each for injured police and rangers personnel.
According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the cabinet discussed the severity of the injuries sustained by 172 police officers, with most in critical condition. Reports from CMH Rawalpindi highlighted the brutality faced by security personnel, leading to severe injuries including fractures. Chief Minister Sharif remarked on the unprecedented level of violence and announced the formation of a special force to address increasing attacks on security posts.
The meeting also saw the approval of several amendments and projects, including making kite flying a non-bailable offense and establishing the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority. The cabinet recognized efforts in combating climate change and addressed agricultural developments through the Kisan Card initiative. Additional approvals included interest-free loans for vehicle inspection stations, the resumption of the Horse and Cattle Show, and various infrastructure and development projects across Punjab.
