Punjab Braces for Intense Monsoon Rains, PDMA Issues Weather Advisory

Lahore: The Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather advisory alerting residents to brace for a significant monsoon deluge from the evening of August 14th through August 18th, with the heaviest rainfall expected between the night of the 14th and the 16th.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority announcement issued on 12 August 2024, the forecast predicts steady monsoon rains over much of Punjab, with occasional gaps. The anticipated heavy rainfall could impact various districts, potentially causing urban flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. The PDMA has highlighted that areas such as Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi are at a higher risk of severe weather impacts due to their geographic and urban characteristics.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow all safety instructions issued by local authorities. The PDMA has coordinated with emergency services to ensure readiness for rapid response and relief operations. The authority also stresses the importance of community cooperation and preparedness during this period.
