Lahore, In a pivotal move to enhance the textile industry, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has approved the establishment of the province’s first Plug and Play Garment City. The decision was made during a special meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, aiming to bolster industrial growth and technical skills among workers.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the new garment city will feature complete facilities for weaving, dyeing, and other related processes, all powered by green energy sources such as solar systems. A high-level committee led by Minister of Industry Chaudhry Shafi Hussain has been tasked to oversee the development of this pilot project, which if successful, will expand to other areas. The initiative also includes organizing technical training for workers to meet the demands of the modern garment industry. The meeting was attended by various high-ranking officials, including MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Chairman P and D, and other key stakeholders.
