Punjab and Sindh Roll Out Ramadan Relief Packages for Needy Families

Islamabad, In a significant move to provide relief to deserving families during the holy month of Ramadan, the Punjab and Sindh governments have approved substantial relief packages. The initiatives aim to ease the financial burden on low-income families by ensuring they have access to essential food items during this period of fasting and reflection.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Punjab Cabinet, under the leadership of the province’s first female Chief Minister, approved the Ramadan Nigehban Relief Package 2024 during a meeting in Lahore. This initiative will see the distribution of over 6.5 million relief hampers containing vital foodstuffs such as flour, rice, sugar, edible oil, and chickpea flour directly to the homes of those in need. The Chief Minister has placed great emphasis on the quality of the items included in these hampers, with district administrations and the Punjab Food Authority being tasked with ensuring their standards. Additionally, the distribution process will be monitored through an app and dashboard developed by the Punjab IT Board to guarantee a fair and transparent process.

Simultaneously, Sindh’s Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has unveiled a twenty-two-point-five billion rupee Ramadan package for the residents of Sindh. During a meeting in Karachi, he approved the provision of five thousand rupees in cash assistance to sixty percent of the province’s population earning the minimum wage. This financial support is part of a broader effort to provide substantial aid to those most affected by economic challenges during the holy month.

These measures by the Punjab and Sindh governments reflect a commitment to supporting vulnerable segments of society, ensuring that the spirit of Ramadan is observed without undue hardship.
