Punjab Accelerates Construction of Cost-Effective Smart Police Stations

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has announced significant progress in the development of 39 smart police stations across the province, including in Lahore, which are expected to offer substantial cost savings to the government. The new facilities are designed to modernize police operations and reduce construction costs significantly compared to traditional police stations.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 07 September 2024, during a meeting at the Central Police Office today, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted that the cost of constructing these smart police stations is estimated to be between 60 to 100 million rupees each, compared to the previous 200 to 250 million rupees. He detailed that a total of 99 police stations are currently under construction in various districts, with these smart police stations replacing older ones that were located in rented buildings within densely populated areas. The new stations are being built on plots ranging from 1 to 2 kanal, ensuring more space and better facilities.

The meeting, attended by AIG Development Sahibzada Bilal Omar and regional police officers from Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, and Sheikhupura, reviewed the ongoing construction activities. Dr. Anwar stated that the smart police stations will operate under special initiative protocols and standard operating procedures to enhance their functionality and service delivery.
