PTDC Hands Over 19 Properties to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority

Peshawar, In a significant development for the tourism sector of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has formally transferred 19 properties to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA). A ceremonial event marking this transfer was held at the Peshawar Services Club.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the ceremony was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Caretaker Minister for Information and Public Relations, Culture, Tourism, Archaeology and Museum Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhil as the special guest. The formal signing of the documents was carried out by PTDC Managing Director Aftab Rana and KPCTA Director General Barkatullah.

The occasion saw the presence of several other dignitaries, including Secretary Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Jabbar Shah, DG Information Muhammad Imran, General Manager PTDC Properties Ashfaq Ahmed, CEO Kotham Ahmed Fahim, Deputy Manager Tourism Authority Sanam Bashir, and other relevant officials.

Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhil, addressing the audience, emphasized the critical role these properties will play in boosting tourism in the province. He acknowledged that the handover of these properties, following the eighteenth amendment, was a significant achievement. The properties, known for their unique locations and architectural value, are expected to enhance accommodation facilities for tourists, contributing to the tourism sector’s growth and income.

Responding to media queries, Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhil outlined the steps being taken to promote tourism in adjacent districts. He mentioned the upcoming organization of various events, including a three-day festival and a conference, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance tourism.

The recent symposium in Chitral, which focused on tourism promotion and generated valuable suggestions, was highlighted by the caretaker minister. He concluded by underscoring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s unique appeal in terms of tourism, citing its excellent location, rich culture, hospitality, and historical sites linked to various civilizations and religions. He emphasized the importance of presenting these attributes effectively to the global audience.

The transfer of these 19 properties is seen as a positive step towards realizing the full potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tourism sector, with a focus on improving facilities and attracting more tourists to the region.
