Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has completed a comprehensive Quality of Service survey across 23 cities, analyzing the performance of cellular mobile operators over a three-month period. This initiative evaluated various aspects of mobile network service, including coverage, voice quality, and broadband speeds, aiming to enhance overall service quality.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the survey traversed approximately 4,000 kilometers per operator, testing mobile broadband with 0.38 million tests and conducting 57,500 tests for voice calls and SMS. The evaluation was based on compliance with the Key Performance Indicators outlined in the Next Generation Mobile Services licenses and the QoS Regulations of 2021.
Results from the survey indicated that while broadband speeds and network latency showed compliance and improvement, some voice service metrics did not meet the required standards in specific regions. Mobile operators utilizing more advanced technologies such as LTE Carrier Aggregation and Voice over LTE were noted for providing superior service quality. Following these findings, the PTA has issued directives to all operators to take necessary measures to improve their services.
Detailed results from this survey are available on the PTA’s official website, providing valuable insights for subscribers and promoting a competitive environment among mobile operators.
