Islamabad, The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), in coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, has conducted a successful raid in Kasur against a mobile phone company’s sales channel. The sales channel was involved in the illegal activation and sale of pre-activated SIMs to criminals.
According to Pakistan Telecommunication, Authority reports that during the raid, 53 active SIM cards were seized, and one individual was apprehended by the FIA team. The operation also led to the discovery of an illegal SIM supplier network. The raid was initiated following a complaint filed by PTA with FIA, based on information about the unlawful activities of the sales channel.
This action by PTA and FIA is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal SIM activation, a significant issue in telecommunications regulation. The successful raid and subsequent FIR registration against the accused highlight the authorities’ commitment to curbing criminal activities related to telecommunication services in Pakistan.
