ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to curb the spread of profane and obscene content online, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken decisive action by blocking numerous websites. This initiative aims to cleanse the digital space of content deemed inappropriate and offensive by the regulatory body.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the PTA has already blocked over one hundred thousand URLs that were identified as blasphemous. In addition to this, a staggering 844,008 websites have been blocked for hosting obscene content. This large-scale action reflects the PTA’s commitment to maintaining a clean and safe internet environment for users across Pakistan.
The authority’s efforts are part of a broader strategy to monitor and regulate online content that violates the country’s moral and ethical standards. By targeting these specific URLs and websites, the PTA aims to protect internet users, particularly the younger demographic, from exposure to harmful and inappropriate material.
