PTA and FIA Conduct Joint Raid Against Illegal SIM Issuance in Burewala

Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in partnership with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Lahore, conducted a successful raid on a Ufone franchise in Burewala, uncovering illegal activities related to the issuance of SIM cards. The operation resulted in the confiscation of various devices and the arrest of two individuals involved in the illegal activity.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, the raid led to the discovery of 14 active SIM cards, 25 suspicious SIM cards, five BVS devices, and three mobile phones. These items were seized by the FIA team as evidence. The arrested individuals were taken into custody on the spot, and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed by the agency. The FIA Cyber Crime Circle is continuing its investigation into the case, which originated from a complaint filed by the PTA regarding the illegal activation of SIMs through the sales channel.

This operation is part of the PTA’s ongoing efforts to combat the unauthorized issuance of SIM cards, highlighting the authority’s commitment to addressing this issue.
