Provincial Ombudsman Intervenes in Pension Dispute Involving Former Chief Officer in Quetta

Quetta: Abdul Aziz Barozai, a former chief officer of the local government department in Quetta, successfully resolved a pension and gratuity dispute through the intervention of the provincial ombudsman. Barozai filed a petition claiming that his benefits were unjustly halted in retaliation for his request to adjust his age based on his matriculation certificate.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, after Barozai approached the court to amend his age on official documents, the local government department ceased his pension payments and deducted arrears under the APT rules, which he claimed were inapplicable to local government LCS employees like himself. Following his complaint, the provincial ombudsman acted swiftly, demanding an explanation from the department and directing them to address the grievance fairly.

The issue concluded positively for Barozai as the department informed the provincial ombudsman’s office in writing that the complaint had been resolved, restoring the former chief officer’s pension and gratuity dues.
