Lahore: Provincial Minister for Health and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, conducted a thorough review of the security preparations for Muharram ul Haram in Bahawalpur, emphasizing a coordinated effort to ensure peace during the observances.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 10 July 2024, the review included a detailed briefing on the arrangements for the 1,409 Majalis and 514 processions planned in the Bahawalpur Division. Security measures have been finalized with 17,000 police personnel deployed, and additional support from 15 Army and Rangers companies during the critical 7th to 10th Muharram period. High-level officials, including Provincial Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and other key ministers and security chiefs, attended the briefing, underscoring the significance of the security operations. Minister Rafique stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance and implementing standard operating procedures issued by the Home Department to safeguard the processions and gatherings throughout Punjab.
