Provincial Minister for Education Chairs Meeting to Enhance Educational Institutions’ Efficiency in Peshawar

Peshawar, A recent meeting of the Board of Governors of Peshawar Public School and College, chaired by Provincial Minister for Primary, Secondary and Higher Education Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan, focused on improving the efficiency of educational institutions while adhering to a policy of austerity.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting, which included Education Secretary Mutasim Ballah Shah, Special Secretary Sharif Hussain, and other board members, addressed various strategies to enhance the performance of educational institutions. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan emphasized the importance of focusing on youth higher education and controlling unnecessary expenditure within the limited resources available.

The meeting also discussed human resource management in model schools and colleges, advocating for new recruitments under contract and fixed pay policy post-employee retirements. This approach aims to control unnecessary recruitments and take decisive steps to manage budget deficits in institutions.

Significant decisions were made regarding the financial aspects of Peshawar Public School and College. The meeting agreed to increase the fee structure, which will now be Rs 3820 per month for nursery to fifth class, Rs 4250 per month for sixth to tenth class, and Rs 7150 per month for eleventh and twelfth class. Additionally, salary adjustments were approved for employees, including 20% ad-hoc relief for grades one to 16 and 25% for grade 17 and above, considering the financial condition of the college.

Fixed pay rates for teachers and class four employees were set at Rs 30,000 and Rs 24,000 per month, respectively. The board also approved a computer allowance for computer operators, aligning with the government’s policy. Furthermore, a decision was made to start a scholarship and fee waiver policy for position holder students.

The principal of the college was directed to conduct a university admission campaign and a special media campaign to attract students and parents, highlighting the commitment to enhancing the quality of education and attracting more enrolments.
