Provincial Minister EPD Meets DC Sialkot 

Lahore, December 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister for Environmental Protection Muhammad Rizwan said that 100% implementation of all laws including housing and saltwater waste management in housing societies is the primary responsibility of local authorities of all concerned departments including local government. Owners are required to ensure the supply of clean drinking water from the societies. NOCs of housing societies will review and action will be taken against those societies which are failing to provide quality services and their NOCs will also be cancelled.

These views were expressed by Muhammad Rizwan during in a meeting with DC Sialkot at his office on Wednesday to ensure implementation of rules and SOPs in housing societies. Provincial Minister for Environmental Protection Muhammad Rizwan said that Sialkot would be made a model district in terms of housing societies. He said that weekly meetings would be held to ensure implementation of rule and regulation in housing societies and this practice would ensure implementation in all the districts of the province.

The provincial minister directed that the assistant commissioners of the four tehsils should present a detailed report of all the approved and unapproved housing societies in their tehsils at the next meeting. Provincial Minister Muhammad Rizwan said that government officials should perform their professional duties with honesty and true spirit. He warned that strict action should be taken against the housing societies which are causing environmental pollution. Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Tahir Farooq said that a clear billboard of approved map 40 by 40 feet should be installed outside all approved housing societies.

Commercial buildings under construction will be required to display approved sign boards outside their buildings under construction. The Deputy Commissioner urged the local Revenue authorities to submit a comprehensive report on State Land in all the housing societies. Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Tahir Farooq said that the officers and employees who showed leniency and negligence in discharging their duties would be held accountable and no concession would be made to anyone in this regard. Construction work on illegal buildings will be stopped. Assistant Commissioner Sialkot Ghulam Murtaza, Zubair Wattoo, CEO District Council Faisal Shehzad and DO Environment Imtiaz Ahmed were present on the occasion.
